When my teacher first introduced us to this way of working with our ancestors, he asked us to connect with each ancestral line to see which one welcomed us. He described it as trying all the doors to see which one opened first. It was a simple way of explaining it, but it made complete sense to me. As I've written in the earlier blogs, the first door that opened was my father's father's line. That wasn't the one I expected, but it turned out to be exactly the right place to begin. There was one door, though, that didn't open then, and it still hasn't.
Right from the beginning, my father's mother's line was the one that offered the most resistance. It wasn't frightening and it wasn't unfriendly. It just wasn't welcoming me in. Two years later, that's still where I find myself. I'm still trying to connect with that lineage and I still don't know when it will happen. I don't think it's something I can make happen by trying harder. All I can do is keep turning up, sit quietly and wait. That's how this work has always happened for me. I show up, I connect in, and if something happens that's wonderful. If nothing happens, then that's fine too. I never feel I've wasted my time because I know there's a reason why some things happen when they do.
Earlier this year I completed Sacred Geometry Level Two. I'd already experienced some powerful healing shifts after Level One the previous year, and the exercises we did on that course, so I expected Level Two to build on that. What I wasn't expecting was the extent of the healing that happened during the Level Two exercises. They seemed to work on me for quite a while afterwards and it took time before I felt as though everything had settled.
Only a week later I went on retreat to Spain. On reflection, I think that came at exactly the right time because it gave me the opportunity to let everything settle naturally. We were doing yoga and other energy exercises during the retreat, so the work carried on, but there was also time just to stop. There was very little phone signal where we were staying, which turned out to be a real gift. Instead of looking at emails or scrolling on my phone, I spent my time reading books, talking to the other people on the retreat and simply enjoying being there. It gave me the space to let everything settle without feeling I had to analyse it or understand it. I knew something had shifted.
It wasn't until we started visiting ancient sites again that I began to notice my relationship to the sites had altered. The first place where it really struck me was Anglesey. I loved Anglesey and found the energy there very special, so at first, I simply assumed it was the island itself. Everything felt stronger there, and I put it down to being somewhere that has a special energy, which it has. But it was also the place where I knew it was time to connect into the healing work of my father’s mother’s lineage.
When we visited Bryn Celli Ddu, I became very aware of an incredibly feminine energy there. I'd never experienced that anywhere else. It felt almost womb like. Afterwards I mentioned it to people in some of the groups I'm involved with, and it was reassuring to hear that other people had experienced something very similar there. It didn't prove anything, but it gave me the confidence to trust what I'd felt rather than dismissing it. The more I thought about it, though, the more I began to wonder whether it was only Anglesey. Had something shifted enough after Sacred Geometry Level Two that I was now experiencing these places differently?

As we've travelled around over the last few months, I've chatted with one of my Sacred Geometry teachers about what I've been experiencing. Those conversations have helped me make a little more sense of it all. I have a feeling that the ancient sites, the standing stones and the Earth's energy lines are trying to draw me towards another part of my work. It feels as though they're asking me to step up and become involved in Earth healing. I have done Earth healing before with friends on and off over the years. I don't know whether that has anything to do with my father's mother's lineage. However one glimpse my guides have given me is Pendle. My Grandma lived in Preston and came from an outlying village to work in one of the laundries in Preston. That's how she met my Grandad. I just have to trust in the process.
The idea of working with maps and compass came quite naturally whilst we were away. We found ourselves looking at ordinance survey maps to work out where different ancient sites were and what we were seeing when we stood on viewpoints looking across the landscape. Quite often I could feel myself being drawn towards a particular place, but I had no idea what it was. My phrase of the holiday is “what’s that place over there” Tony did what Tony always does and bought maps, so we went old school rather than relying on our phones.

As we sat looking at the maps, it suddenly occurred to me that I didn't have to leave the ancient sites behind when we came home. I could use them as part of my healing work. The thought came into my mind that I could dowse over the maps, locate the energy lines and work with crystals in exactly the same way as I do when I'm working with energy for people. Rather than placing crystals on a person, I could place them on the maps where I was guided to put them and allow the healing to unfold from there.
That felt completely natural to me because crystals have always been part of my work. I trust them, I understand how they work with me, and I already combine them with Holy Fire Reiki in many of the treatments I offer. It didn't feel like starting something completely new. It felt more like taking what I already do and applying it in a different way.
Holy Fire Reiki also felt like an important part of it. William Rand, the founder of Holy Fire Reiki, has done a great deal of work with Earth healing, creating crystal grids at different places around the world with the intention of supporting healing and raising the vibration. I've always liked that idea, and I found myself wondering whether some of those healing grids might naturally become part of what I'm being drawn towards. It's simply an idea that's growing quietly in the background.
When I get home, I want to begin with the places we've visited over the last couple of months. They feel familiar because I've stood there, walked there and connected with them recently. That seems like the right place to begin. Then I'll gradually widen it to include other ancient places that have been important to me over the years. Whether any of that has anything to do with my father's mother's lineage, it may be that I need to do this work before that last door opens. It reminds me a little of the old fairy tales where the prince has to complete a series of tasks before he's allowed to marry the princess. He doesn't always understand why he's been asked to do them. Its just a quest in front of him.
So that's where I find myself today. Patiently waiting for the last ancestral door to open. At the same time, the door to Earth Healing seems to have opened without me even looking for it. Whether the two are connected, I don't know. I'll just keep visiting the ancient places that seem to draw me in, I'll keep listening, and I'll keep working with the energy in the way that feels right. There isn't always a straight line from one thing to the next. Sometimes you have to trust that you're being led in the right direction, even when you can't yet see where the path is going.
